European Hydrogen Week

The HyValue management attended European Hydrogen Week and came back full of insight and inspiration.

- It has been great to meet up with HyValue partners, and to meet new potential collaborators. It was also an honour to be received by the ambassador of Norway to the EU, Anders H. Eide, in the ambassador’s residence, and discuss challenges in the forthcoming green transition, says HyValue deputy Velaug Oltedal.

European Hydrogen Week is the biggest annual event in EU dedicated to hydrogen. It is organized by Hydrogen Europe, the European Commission and the Clean Hydrogen

Partnership, to bring the entire hydrogen sector in one place, for a whole week of conferences, exhibitions and great networking opportunities. HyValue had their own stand at the Norwegian pavilion, facilitated by Innovation Norway.

-  There was a great value communicating with partners present at the Norwegian stand, for both strengthening collaboration, gaining better understanding, and discussing potential new efforts, says centre director Fionn Iversen.- We are very happy with the turnout at the HyValue stand. The stand had continuous visits, including two visits from our energy state secretary and also from EU commission representatives. There is clearly a great interest in what we are doing in HyValue, adds Iversen.

Challenging, but promising times ahead
The conference consisted of a high-level policy conference, a parallel innovation conference, and multiple side events. The HyValue delegation partook in meetings, paid a visit to our energy councillor at Norway House in Brussels and attended a reception at the Norwegian EU ambassador's residence.

- We have listened to European hydrogen leaders underlining the need for Hydrogen Valleys, the potential for utilization of captured CO2 for new fuels, and the need for reskilling of the workforce for rolling out hydrogen technology, Velaug Oltedal sums up.

- There was a general sense of uncertainty with respect to the progress and implementation of hydrogen, but also a very clear sense that we are all in this together. This combined with the expectancy of a greatly increased effort and funding, in the EU moving ahead, makes for promising times ahead, says Fionn Iversen.
