UiB launches COAST – HyValue formally anchored in new research centre
The University of Bergen has established the COAST Law Center, a new research hub dedicated to legal frameworks for climate, ocean, marine environment, and maritime activities. The centre builds on UiB’s existing research group in climate, energy, and environmental law, and aims to strengthen legal research supporting the green transition. According to centre director Ignacio Herrera Anchustegui, COAST will develop legal knowledge for interdisciplinary research projects and collaborations with industry and the public sector. The centre will focus on topics such as environmental and spatial planning law, energy law, private law related to sustainability, maritime and marine law, and regulatory challenges linked to offshore energy and ocean use. COAST aims to position UiB internationally and serve as a meeting point for researchers across Northern Europe. (Photo Kim E. Andreassen, UiB)
