Hydrogen research at HVL receives major boost – linked to HyValue

We are pleased to share that HVL has awarded internal funding for a new research project on hydrogen production from seawater using sunlight. The project receives NOK 6 million over three years and is led by HyValue Deputy Director Velaug Myrseth Oltedal.

This allocation is part of HVL’s broader investment in strengthening research capacity ahead of becoming the University of Western Norway.

Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) has awarded NOK 36 million to six research initiatives that will support the institution’s transition toward becoming the University of Western Norway. The other initiatives include generative AI, childcare workforce well‑being, maternal health among immigrant women, data‑assisted stroke rehabilitation, and digital “thermal‑risk” twins. Together, these projects aim to strengthen HVL’s research profile and enhance competitiveness for future external funding. (Photo collage: HVL)
